Kick off meeting of the projecty AIDEdu was organized to start the project with a great enthusiasm and each partner introduced themsevles to the consorium. The coordinator Dr. Shalini Bariar explained the details of the project to all the partners and discuued the deadlines of each deliverable and milestones with indicators. Logiocal framework matrix of the project was discuuued amongst all the partners. Each Work pacake leader explained about the Workpackage and responsibilities of each consortium member in that work Package. Dr. Pradip Mitra explained the budget of the project and each work packlage plan was discussed separately in the meeting.

Type : Initiation meeting for project requirements and explanation workshop on WP1.
Area : Meeting to initiate the project, deciding the strategies.

The Physical Kick of meeting started with presentations of each partner institution, followed by Need analysis prepared by each partner.

A Moodle experience session was organized by KU.  Which gave participants a brief idea about the gaps in the Project requirement. The communication plan was discussed with all partners and the launching of Project logo, social media page and website was done in the 3rd day of the event.

A presentation of Quality plan was done RTU and discussion on WP 7 activities was done by VESIM. The final day of the meeting involved the planning for WP 2 and training under WP 3.

Along with the meeting, the evenings were spent with dinners and bonfire with jam session.

Riga Technical University, LATVIA : AIDEdu Project Training

AIDEdu Consortium team members from India and Nepal ) attended strategic training and meeting from June 17th to June 21st at Riga Technical University (RTU ) in RIGA, Latvia. RTU hosted a dynamic event aimed at fostering international collaboration and exploring innovative educational strategies on Accessible, inclusive, and digitalized education. AIDEdu project represents a transformative approach to learning that breaks down barriers and empowers learners of all backgrounds and abilities. The event was attended by various consortium members from Asia and Europe.

A project cofounded by European commission on Accessible, inclusive, and digitalized education AIDEdu represents a transformative approach to learning that breaks down barriers and empowers learners of all backgrounds and abilities. By leveraging technology and adopting inclusive practices, educational institutions can ensure equitable access to quality education, accommodating diverse learning styles and needs. This approach not only enhances educational outcomes but also promotes a more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully.

Under this project coordinated by VESIM, various faculty, and project managers from esteemed Indian and Nepali institutions attended this meet and discussed the best practices to improve the quality of education with accessible inclusive and digital approach. The event brought together educators, administrators, and experts from various institutions to share insights and practices, enriching the educational landscape.

The event commenced with Dr. Satish Modh delivering a warm welcome speech, setting a tone of anticipation and collaboration. Deputy Vice-rector Igors Tipāns introduced EUt+, highlighting its significance in the international engagement arena. The morning continued with a keynote speech from Igors Tipāns, focusing on university ecosystems and strategies.

After a brief lunch break at the RTU cafeteria, attendees engaged in crucial meetings with the International Cooperation Department’s management, followed by an insightful campus tour guided by Ilze Ella Negribe. The day concluded with a welcoming dinner at Restaurant “Melnie Mūki,” fostering networking and camaraderie among participants.

The second day began with Uģis Citkovskis delivering a keynote speech on best practices in digital transformation specific to RTU. This was followed by a workshop on e-learning facilitated by Atis Kapenieks and Jānis Kapenieks. Participants delved deeper into Moodle environment configuration and knowledge monitoring techniques throughout the afternoon, culminating in a session on project management matters and quality assurance.

The third day commenced with a workshop titled “Students Teach Teachers on Teaching,” emphasizing collaborative learning approaches. This was followed by a learning formalization workshop and a keynote speech on roadmap design methodology. The afternoon session was dedicated to a practical workshop on roadmap design and digital teaching and learning environments, led by Kārlis Valtiņš.The day ended with a city tour, offering participants a glimpse into Riga’s rich cultural heritage.

The fourth day of the meeting provided participants with opportunities for individual meetings, allowing for focused discussions and networking. A highlight was the visit to the University of Latvia’s international office, further strengthening inter-institutional ties and collaborations and discussion on Digital aspects of education.

The final day commenced early with an International Day of Yoga practice session at the University of Latvia, promoting holistic well-being among attendees. Later, an international conference on “Creative Imagination as a Way to Liberation” capped off the event, showcasing diverse perspectives and inspiring creativity in education.

The weeklong event at RTU exemplified the power of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of education. Participants departed with enriched knowledge, new connections, and a shared commitment to advancing educational excellence on a global scale.

Day 1: Welcome and Introduction

The study visit commenced on the 24th of June with a warm welcome from FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. Doris Kiendl, Head of the Institute for International Management and Entrepreneurship at FH Joanneum. This opening speech highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and innovation in management education.

Following this, Prof. (Dr.) Satish Modh from VES Institute of Management gave the opening remarks, emphasizing the significance of the partnership between FH Joanneum and VESIM in driving forward digital and inclusive education practices.

Mag. Birgit Hernády, Head of International Relations Office at FH Joanneum, provided an overview of the university’s international programs and partnerships, setting the stage for deeper insights into the Austrian model of applied sciences.

The morning continued with an engaging session led by Mag. Dr. Rupert Beinhauer, who outlined the universities of applied sciences’ approach in Austria, particularly focusing on their orientation towards industry collaborations and research-driven education. After a brief coffee break, participants enjoyed a lunch at the FH Joanneum cafeteria.

The afternoon session was dedicated to exploring FH Joanneum’s didactical approach, focusing on the digitalization and modernization of teaching practices. FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. Birgit Phillips MSc, Head of Higher Education Didactics and AI, delivered this insightful session, shedding light on the university’s efforts to integrate AI and digital tools into the learning environment.

The day concluded with a brief wrap-up and reflection session.

 

Day 2: Strategic Planning for Centers of Excellence

The second day of the visit focused on strategic management and operational planning for Centers of Excellence. Mag. Dr. Rupert Beinhauer and Ligia Pasqualin MA led a workshop that guided participants through the drafting of strategic planning documents, providing valuable insights into the intricacies of establishing and managing centers of excellence.

Following this, DI (FH) Andrea Maria Kling, Programme Administrator, presented the Global Business Program at the Institute of International Management & Entrepreneurship, highlighting its international orientation and relevance in today’s global business environment.

FH-Prof. Dr.mont. Corinna Engelhardt-Nowitzki then discussed FH Joanneum’s strategy and vision for accessible, inclusive, and digitalized education, emphasizing the university’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable learning environment.

The afternoon session featured a World Café event, where faculty members engaged in structured conversations around topics like Accessible and Inclusive Education, Digitization of Education, and International Recognition and Competitiveness. The session, facilitated by Ligia Pasqualin, allowed for open dialogue and exchange of ideas.

The day ended with a welcome dinner and networking event at Der Steirer restaurant, providing participants with an opportunity to connect in a more informal setting.

 

Day 3: Site Visit and Networking

Day three included a visit to Karl Franz University in Graz, offering participants a glimpse into the academic environment of one of Austria’s oldest universities. The visit provided an opportunity for networking and understanding different approaches to education.

Back at FH Joanneum, Mag. Alice Greiner MBA, Head of Gender & Diversity, led a session on gender and diversity strategies at the university. This session highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive educational environment that promotes diversity and equality.

The day concluded with a wrap-up session, reflecting on the key takeaways from the day’s activities.

 

Day 4: Deep Dive into Inclusive and Innovative Education

The focus of day four was on innovative teaching and learning practices. The morning began with a session on teaching awards at FH Joanneum, led by FH-Prof. MMag. Dr. Harald Friedl. This session recognized excellence in teaching and the importance of innovative pedagogical approaches.

Presentations from DI Jürgen Fluch and MMag. Waltraud Jelinek-Krickl, both Teaching Award winners in 2023, followed. These presentations showcased how digital tools and innovative approaches are being integrated into teaching and learning at FH Joanneum. A group discussion allowed participants to share their experiences and insights on digital learning.

The afternoon included sessions on deliverables and reporting alignment, and future course of action planning for VES Institute of Management. The day ended with a visit to the Smart Care Lab at FH Joanneum, offering participants a firsthand look at the innovative research and development taking place at the university.

 

Day 5: Socializing and Exploring the Region

The final day of the study visit was dedicated to cultural exploration and socializing. Participants met at FH Joanneum’s main entrance and embarked on a guided tour of Schloss Eggenberg palace rooms, followed by a leisurely walk through the palace gardens.

The group enjoyed a farewell lunch at Rudolf Restaurant before the visit officially concluded with closing remarks and a farewell.

 

This study visit provided invaluable insights into the strategic planning, innovative teaching practices, and inclusive education strategies being implemented at FH Joanneum. The experience also fostered stronger ties between the participating institutions, paving the way for future collaborations

AIDEdu in-person Kick off meeting at Global College International at Kathmandu and at Kathmandu University Dhulikhel, Nepal started with a grand welcome for all the partners followed by Institutional presentations and Need analysis prepared by each partner Institution in the Consortium of AIDEdu Project CoFunded by EU.

The discussion included detailed introduction of each partner institution in the consortium  followed by Need analysis and Discussion on deliverables of Work Pages . The Kathmandu University presented the Moodle platform concept and implementation . Various partner worked upon the best practices in  Global approaches of Teaching learning with a goal  To increase the quality of tertiary education through a capacity building holistic approach of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) on Sustainable Development (SD) to facilitate the accomplishment of relevant accessible, inclusive, digitized quality management education on HEIs in India and Nepal, by installation of Centres of Excellence of teaching and learning and achieving partnership goals of HEIs to be more internationally recognized and competitive with special consideration to SDG 4, 10 and 17.
